history
Aziraphale wasn’t so much born as he was willed into being by his heavenly father; God. He was given the rank of Principality and sent to Earth as guardian of the Eastern Gate. It was there he met The Serpant; Crawley (who would later change his name to Crowley). After all his polite requests for the demon to leave were thwarted, Aziraphale could only watch as Adam and Eve at the apply and were kicked out of paradise.
After Aziraphale remained on Earth to watch over humanity and act as a spiritual guide for the young species. Throughout the centuries Aziraphale watched over, interacted with, and learned from humanity. He also had many encounters with his demonic counter part Crowley, who wasn’t really a bad fellow if one could overlook the whole demon aspect. In 1000 AD Aziraphale and Crowley formed an Arrangement. Being both from angelic stock, they agreed to cover for one each other whenever necessary. Sometimes Aziraphale felt a bit guilty about this.
Things changed with the birth of the anti-christ. Aziraphale and Crowley went from reluctant allies to friends as they fought side by side to save the world. After the Earth failed to end Aziraphale celebrated by getting drunk in his newly restored Bookshop. The good feelings didn’t last long however, when Aziraphale got word that Heaven wasn’t happy with his betrayal and would be arriving shortly to take him back to heaven for his punishment.
